ABOUT US
What are apprenticeships?

Martec training is a privately owned training provider established in 1980 by Peter and Pauline Marson. The family had a long history in the motor trade and recognised that there was a crucial need for recruiting and training young people into the trade. Based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Martec training is now a registered centre for the delivery of City & Guilds and the Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) qualifications through apprenticeships.

Today, Martec training is one of the leading local training providers specialising in motor industry qualifications, Business Administration, Customer Service, Retail and Warehousing. The company also manages Foundation Learning Tier and schools links programmes that support learners in developing basic skills, confidence, vocational awareness and employability.

Martec training's learners have achieved much over the years including numerous Apprenticeship of the Year Awards.  Most recently, 2007 saw Mark Tushingham, a vehicle technician, win the Apprenticeship of the Year runner up prize. In 2008 Emma Woodward, a business administration trainee, won the same award. Ashley Hawe, a former e2e learner, won Personal Achievement of the Year Award in 2008 and Endon Services, won Small Business of the Year Award for its involvement and support of apprentices.

Martec training, previously at King Street, moved to a purpose built all on one site centre at the start of 2009.  The Lyme Valley site allows for a much more accessible location for learners and enables Martec training to have all workshops, classrooms and offices on one main road site.  Learners have referred to the new site as "Excellent", "Very realistic working environment" and "The best training facilities i have seen in the area".

Martec training has its own on site technical college, where the Technician apprentices attend day release to attain their technical certificate part of their qualification. The college has both workshop and classroom facilities to help develop the learner’s practical and theoretical competence. Martec training also has strong links with local colleges where some learners attend day release depending on which qualification they are registered for.

Martec training has strong links with employers across the Staffordshire area who rely on us to supply them with apprentices and also provide opportunities for work experience for our e2e department. All businesses involved with learners have to satisfy certain health and safety and employment criteria before learners are placed with them.

Martec training’s assessors and tutors are all qualified and have years of experience of the trade in which they deliver. The welfare of the learners on all of our schemes is very important to us and regular visits will be made by our welfare team to both learners and employers alike to ensure that things run smoothly and that everyone involved is happy and any problems are resolved.

Martec training’s staff pride themselves on their quality of service and their provision of up to date information, advice and guidance. Knowing what learners and employers need and fulfilling those needs means that together we can help you on the road to success.

We aim to select the right person for the right job in the hope that your dedication and hard work, along with our support and expertise, you will gain your qualification and succeed in your chosen career.
