Vehicle Paint Sprayers/ Refinishers work on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist paint & body shops. The job involves the following:
- Preparing Panels to Accept Foundation and Topcoats
- Preparing and Applying Foundation Materials to Vehicles
- Repairing Minor Paint Defects
- Carrying Out Complete Refinishing Operations
- Mixing and Matching Paint Colours
- Identifying and Rectifying Paint Defects and Faults

What does the training involve?
The best foundation for a career in a paint or body shop is through an apprenticeship. You will learn, train and earn at the same time with much of your practical experience coming from supervised work in the body shop itself.
Like all NVQ’s, the qualification is competence based. This means that it is linked to your ability to perform a range of tasks connected with your work. You will plan a programme of development and assessment with an assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove your competence and knowledge. You will attend College on day release.
What will I achieve?
Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship, Technical Certificate, Key Skills and Application of Number and Communication.
