We really needed to find someone who could help our admin department out as they were getting increasingly busy! So when we were approached by Martec training and told about the apprenticeship scheme it seemed perfect for us. I was a bit unsure about taking on an apprentice as it's not something I have done before as a small business. However when I was approached by Martec training and was told that I could have a lad on a trial basis for a month, I thought I would give it a go as my business was really picking up and I needed an extra pair of hands. Luckily after just 2 weeks I could see that the young lad was very keen to learn and I offered him a placement. He has been with me for 6 months now and its going well, he goes on day release to technical college, a specially designed workshop where he is taught underpinning knowledge ranging from correct tool selection for the job to complex diagnosis techniques, I feel this alongside with the guidance and supervision I offer him in the workplace will enable him to progress in the motor trade. My son and I came into Martec training to enquire about finding an apprenticeship in mechanics for when he leaves school. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff and made to feel very relaxed and welcome. The information session that was provided told us all we needed to know about what to expect from the scheme and no stone was left unturned. You can tell that the staff at Martec training genuinely care about the welfare of the young people and want them to succeed. The whole afternoon was conducted very professionally and we left feeling extremely hopeful about the training and support my son will get when he starts his apprenticeship through Martec training.
