If you are aged 16 – 19 and not in school, college or training then our new Study Programme could help put you on the right path.

Please see below for the courses that we offer.

What are the aims of all our courses?

  • To Help you build confidence and achieve your goals
  • To Help you with your functional skills
  • To Give you training in certain skill areas
  • To Help you move into an apprenticeship, employment or further education
  • Everyone who starts at Martec training will begin with a 6 week initial assessment. This allows us to discuss what you want to achieve, identify your needs and agree on an individual learning plan.
  • You will have help in developing your motivation, confidence, personal and social skills. This may include taking part in out of centre activities and team building. Issues such as bullying, taking responsibility, antisocial behaviour are also considered.
  • You will get support and tuition with functional skills such as Literacy and Numeracy
  • You will learn what qualities are needed to be successful in the work place and will also have help in applying for jobs. You may get the chance to gain hands on experience of employment work placements.
  • You will be supported by experienced staff throughout the programme.

If you are aged 16 - 19, prefer a more 'hands on' way of learning and are interested in motor vehicle mechanics then the IMI Motor Vehicle Courses that we offer are ideal for YOU!

IMIAL Entry Level Award for the Introduction to Vehicle Technology

The Entry Level 3 Award for the Introduction to Vehicle Technology will equip you with the knowledge and experience to enter the motor trade. You will study motor vehicle mechanical and electronic systems.

IMIAL Entry Level Certificate for the Introduction to Vehicle Technology Certificate

The Entry Level 3 Certificate for the Introduction to Vehicle Technology builds upon the Entry Level 3 Award so is very similar in content but you will cover a wider area of Vehicle Technology.

IMIAL Level 1 Award in Vehicle Maintenance

The Level 1 Award in Vehicle Maintenance is for those who are interested in learning about the maintenance of motor vehicles and the various roles that are available in the retail motor industry.

You will Study:

  • Health and Safety Practices in Vehicle Maintenance

  • Tools, equipment and materials for Vehicle Maintenance

Edexcel Entry Level BTEC Certificate in Workskills.

This course has been designed to help you gain the knowledge, understanding and skills you need to enter employment whilst gaining a nationally-recognised qualification.

Edexcel Level 1 BTEC in Business Admin

This qualification introduces learners to basic business administration principles.

You will develop your employability skills including independent skills, time management, communication skills, research skills and teamwork.

City and Guilds Level 1 Award or Certificate in Hospitality and Catering

Hospitality and catering sector is a young, lively and dynamic industry.  This course will help you to develop the skills and knowledge you need to work in the Hospitality Industry.  You will learn about professional cooking, food and beverage service and customer service.

Edexcel Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics

Functional Skills in Mathematics is available at Entry Levels 1, 2 and 3 and also at full Level 1 and 2.

Edexcel Functional Skills Qualification in English

Functional Skills in English is available at Entry Levels 1, 2 and 3 and also at full Level 1 and 2.

Edexcel Functional Skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

We aim to Ensure that you are:

  • Confident and capable when using ICT systems and tools.

  • Able to find and select information.

  • Able to develop, present and communicate information in both life and work.

Functional Skills in ICT are available at Entry Levels 1, 2 and 3 and also at full Level 1 and 2.

How much does it cost me?

The programme doesn't cost you anything!

EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) has now been stopped unfortunately, however, there is new financial help called bursaries which may be available. This will be discussed at the initial assessment.
